Dover to Calais

I couldn’t see the other side,
From this far distant shore,
I couldn’t glimpse her,
As I looked to the crumbling floor.
I couldn’t stand,
As she turned to run,
As he sternly said-
This was the end of all our fun.
I just couldn’t see her,
As she boarded that ship,
Into a blue hole she vanished,
On a one way trip.
And so I sit,
Upon this dusty white face that sheds no tears,
Just waiting to sink.
How am I to get cheap fags now?
Oh refugee lady,
The cause of pains in my chest,
Wherefore art thou?
